Workshop Wednesday - Trauma Informed with Psoas Release Practice

  • 432 Eight Steet New Westminister (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This workshop is derived from the ground-breaking YOGAFIT Warrior Program, which provides scientific education around Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and other trauma-related injuries. Trauma is not reserved for any particular population. We have all, at some point or another, experienced a traumatic event. That said, there are groups of people exposed to trauma more frequently; veterans, first responders, nurses, doctors etc.

We will gain an understanding of trauma, how the body works and how the body adapts as a result of a traumatic event or repeated exposure. The class provided will give us tools for the body to release trauma, or even stress, and eventually heal! Curious? Come on out. This class is anyone and everyone, even you!

$25 per session - Payment will be collected at the door prior to class.

Yogafit for Athletes

More and more athletes are adding yoga to their workout regimen so they can feel stronger, more balanced and single-minded in their pursuit of their own personal best. However, others remain skeptical. This two-day intensive training explores the connection between the two disciplines and helps yoga teachers, personal trainers, and other fitness professionals better understand how yoga can help athletes play hard, play safe, and play longer.

What you will learn:

  • How athletes train, what mental and physical challenges they face, and what impact their training has on their minds as well as their bodies

  • How the science and philosophy of yoga can enhance an athlete’s experience of any other discipline

  • To analyze yoga poses for strength and demand, to refine alignment, and develop mind-body awareness in a particular movement

  • To analyze yoga poses to address use and overuse issues in sports that can cause developmental imbalance in the body

  • How yogic breathing techniques, meditation, and visualization can help prevent injuries and over-training, improve athletic performance, and lead athletes of any persuasion on a path toward success

  • Principles and practices of yoga that can supplement any athletic training program

  • Yoga’s inverse and complementary relationship to athletic performance and training cycles

  • To facilitate the discovery of the inner athlete in your students as well as increase your own athleticism

  • The tools you’ll need to break into the business of providing yoga for athletes, whether professionals, amateurs, or weekend warriors
